The Avenue School-Special Needs Academy is a day, special
school for boys and girls from the age of 2 – 19 with complex
Special Educational Needs. It is situated close to the centre of
Reading and is the only school of this type within the borough.
The many specialist teams work
together to
provide an innovative and creative curriculum delivered through some
highly specialised techniques. The staff are trained to a high standard
and are very focused on the individual needs of pupils. We have
received many awards for our work and this year we have been awarded
the very prestigious Specialist Status for Performing Arts –
Dance, Music and Drama - an award of which we are all proud. The school
is also the first in Reading to gain The Inclusion Quality Mark and its
work in this area has been recognised as outstanding. Hard work and
enjoyment go hand in hand as you will see if you explore the pages of
our website.

- Welcome back
We would like to welcome the pupils back to a very exciting new school year.
As you may know the school has become an Academy as from the 1st September and though out the term the school will be celebrating this huge achievement.
- Beale Park
The Lady Taverners took all our primary and pre-school pupils for a Fun Day at Beale Park on Friday 1st July.
The day was organised by Adrienne Jacobs, Chariman of the Lady Taverners Thames Valley Region. The Lady Taverners is part of The Lord's Taverners organisation, the youth sports and disability charity that is donating nearly £3 million this year to give young people, particularly those with special needs, a sporting chance.
The pupils had a beautiful day for their trip and everyone had a wonderful time, they were all thoroughly exhausted when they got back to the school.
- MOVE Day at Brookfields School
